The Best Warm Exterior Paint Colours for 2026

Spring is on the horizon and with that we can look forward to opening windows, planting bulbs and spending more time outdoors. Another thing that we see a rise in during spring is painting the exterior of our homes. A lot of us prefer to wait until we can paint the interior of our spaces with open windows so we’re not stuck in a room with harmful odours and irritants.

It’s important also to remember that exterior painting has its own set of criteria before it’s considered safe to move forward. While daytime temperatures may be soaring remember that exterior painting requires that overnight temperatures remain above 10 degrees celsius. There should be no heavy rain forecasted for at least 24 hours before and after painting.

Before we can do any painting we need to pick a colour and that can be even more daunting when selecting for the exterior of your home. It’s much more intimidating to select a colour knowing that your choice will be on full view for your neighbours to see, particularly if you are unsure of yourself. It’s also more complex because the natural light affects how your colour is perceived in a more significant way than it does indoors.

You’ll want to consider the rest of your homes’ materials and include them in your selection. This will include any trim colour, door colour and brick as well as the landscaping materials. If you have orange brick and are looking for the best colours, read this post but if you have red brick, this is the post you’ll want to read.

In terms of trends, we’re definitely seeing some big changes in the world of colour in 2026. We started to see the change last year when we moved away from cool tones of gray and off-white to more warm and cozy colours like sand, beige and taupe. We also saw an explosion of bold, saturated colours as well. Both of those trends are just gaining traction and will be bigger and more pronounced than we saw in 2025.

Regardless of whether you’re painting with a neutral or a strong colour, warm is the word to keep in mind in 2026. We’ll be seeing a rainbow of colours but we’re not embracing the cooler side of the rainbow but instead, looking for warm tones that create a cozy and comfortable space. Here are my favourite exterior paint colours for 2026.

1/ Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige SW-7036

SOURCE: Curls and Cashmere

This is a very popular neutral and for very good reason. It’s a warm and cozy neutral but it’s got depth and saturation. This makes it an excellent choice for a warm exterior paint colour because it won’t disappear in the strong sunlight.

2/ Sherwin Williams Jasper SW-6216

If you’re looking for a deep, dark colour for the exterior of your home but don’t want black you’ll love Jasper. This is a deep green that is the perfect alternative for black or dark charcoal. I think this works particularly well in an area that’s surrounded by trees and greenery because the deep green will work seamlessly with natural settings.

3/ Sherwin Williams Endless Sea SW-9150

SOURCE: Pinterest

Blue and white is a classic pairing for the exterior of your home but I’m often asked what is the best blue. There are so many options for you to use and this is one of the easier paint colours to select. If you want something that feels bright and warm, Endless Sea is a great option.

4/ Sherwin Williams Drift of Mist SW-9166

SOURCE: Mo Painting & Reno

This is a chameleon in the world of colour and it can change according to the lighting conditions. If you need a colour that can shine bright due to low light conditions check this out. This light neutral has enough saturation to hold its own in dull light so it’s perfect for a home that’s heavily shaded.

5/ Sherwin Williams Evergreen Fog SW-9130

SOURCE: Brick and Batten

Many of us are familiar with this colour that captured our hearts after the pandemic and became the colour of the year for 2022. This colour represents our connection to nature and it looks great on front doors, trim or even as your home’s main colour. This is such a warm and easy colour to live with and it pairs perfectly with other colours ranging from light neutrals to deep and bold colours.

6/ Sherwin Williams Sea Salt SW-6204

SOURCE: Paint Color Project

Sea Salt exudes the feeling of a day at the beach. This soft green has a warm blue undertone and often the blue undertone can rise to the surface and take over. If you want a colour that can quickly change from green to blue and back again while evoking beachy vibes then you’ll love this popular colour.

7/ Benjamin Moore Cambridge Green – 468

SOURCE: Pinterest

Need something a bit darker and more moody? Cambridge Green is a gorgeous green that feels earthy and grounded. It has a subtle gray undertone which gives it depth but keeps it from feeling too bright. If you’ve been looking at Avon Green (HC-126) and feel like it’s a close match to Cambridge Green, you’re right. It’s the same colour under a different name and in the historical collection.

8/ Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray HC-173

SOURCE: Jenna Kate at Home

Anyone who likes HGTV or shelter magazines likely knows and loves this cult classic. Edgecomb Gray is a blend of gray and beige making it a greige paint colour. There is a lot of warmth and depth so it won’t disappear at the first sign of sunshine. Instead, this colour is steady and strong and will pair with any trim colour and landscaping you may already have in place. You really can’t go wrong with this colour.

9/ Benjamin Moore Providence Blue – 1636

SOURCE: Amy Krane Color

This is a mid-toned slate blue that looks classic and veers towards traditional depending on the style of your home. There are heavy gray undertones in this colour and we even see hints of green from time to time. If you live in an area that receives quite a bit of sunshine this would be a beautiful colour to use because it will never fade away with too much light.

I hope this helps get you started on selecting a warm exterior paint colour for your own home. If you feel uncomfortable tackling this on your own, reach out to me. I’d love to help you select the perfect colours for the exterior of your home.
