We all know about the ever growing knock off market when it comes to luxury fashion but you might not know the very same thing exists in the world of furniture. The difference is you can buy these dupes at your local retailer instead of from a shady character on the street.
While I do love a mix of high and low in a project, there are a few good reasons why we don’t want to hand over our hard earned cash on luxury furniture. The first and most common reason is price. We can’t afford it and don’t want to save for the next 2 years before we buy that piece we’re in need of.
A luxury sofa can be $20k or more while the dupe can be purchased for a few thousand dollars. Or maybe you’re not committed to your current design style. You definitely don’t want to overspend for a piece of furniture that may not suit your style in a couple of years. LUXURY VS DUPE – MY FAVOURITE FURNITURE FINDS
One word of caution before we begin. There can be a significant quality discrepancy between luxury furniture and the dupe version. The construction will always be superior in the luxury option. There’s also the issue of durability and the dupe will never last as long. That doesn’t mean you should overlook the dupes but just know what you’re getting. If you’re onboard with that, let’s take a look.

RH CLOUD SOFA LUXURY VS DUPE
If you’re a design lover you no doubt have seen this sectional around. It’s one of the most well-known pieces of furniture circulating around the world of design. There are those who love it and those who think it’s nothing more than an overpriced sofa kept perpetually popular by RH’s great marketing of it. Regardless of your position, there’s no denying it has made an impact on interior design.
While the dupe isn’t a steal either, take note that this sectional is long. The one I’m using is 158” wide which means there are a lot of pieces involved in the modular design. You could buy either of these in a smaller size for less. As with any modular furniture, each piece is priced separately and you create the size that’s right for you. The price also depends on the fabric you select but these are the starting prices for this particular size.
POTTERY BARN TOSCANA COFFEE TABLE LUXURY VS DUPE
If you like wood tables, Pottery Barn is a go-to retailer. They don’t dabble in trends but always stay true to their roots. They have a nice selection of wood tables to pick from. Their pricing can vary and in the case of the Toscana I’d actually say it’s a pretty good price. But if that’s still too pricey for you there’s a close dupe at Wayfair that will save you some money. And even though it’s a dupe it definitely has a Pottery Barn aesthetic to it.
LD SHOPPE ZIGGY SIDE TABLE LUXURY VS DUPE
The luxury version of this table from LD Shoppe is made from aluminum while the dupe is made from resin. You would definitely see the difference if you lined them up side by side but from a distance I think you’d have a hard time knowing they were different materials. If you like an architectural statement in your room either of these will give you that look.
CRATE & BARREL ALVA WINGBACK CHAIR LUXURY VS DUPE
A good armchair is an essential ingredient to our well designed home. They’re used in living rooms, offices, family rooms and bedrooms so a few are essential for creating a great design. Crate & Barrel has an amazing selection of armchairs that look great but can get a little steep in price. If you like the look, maybe you’ll be satisfied with Structube’s dupe called Gustav.
WILLIAM SONOMA X BASE STOOL LUXURY VS DUPE
I love a good stool because they provide somewhere to rest your feet but they can also be additional seating when you have a group coming over. They also help to fill empty spaces in a room. They’re a bit architectural and that adds some visual interest to a room. I love the look of a pair at the end of a bed so don’t forget that they’re not just for the living room.
The William Sonoma X Base stool is a good one for sure but the price tag is a bit over the top for a stool. Well fortunately you can get a similar look at Wayfair for just a fraction of the cost.
VISUAL COMFORT JACQUELINE CHANDELIER VS PB TEEN BEADED CHANDELIER
Visual Comfort is one of the most luxurious lighting companies and they have a lot of gorgeous pieces but the price tag is high on all of them. Unless you have a big budget you’ll likely have to take a pass when you’re selecting lighting for your home.
It’s no surprise that manufacturers have found a way to knock off their gorgeous designs. The PB Teen glass beaded chandelier is a really good dupe and would probably trick even the most discerning shopper. The best part about a chandelier dupe is that since it’s hanging above our heads you’ll never see any of the discrepancies that might make it different.
