Is it possible that paint colours can be considered seasonal? Of course, we only need to look inside our closets to see that we favour some colours in the warmer months and others in the colder months. We have our spring and summer wardrobe stacked with light pastels, neutrals and the occasional neon. Once summer wraps up we do our seasonal swap and our closet becomes filled with deep, dark browns, burgundy and navy.
The same philosophy stands true when it comes to paint colours. We don’t need to paint our entire home every season but we can add some seasonal perspective in small ways. Maybe you have a small table that needs to be painted or you love to create a mood through an accent wall. And if you really do want to seasonally switch your paint colours, consider small spaces like a powder room or laundry room.
So if your home is in need of an update you may want to consider these 9 paint colours that will help you transition from summer to fall.
9 Paint Colours to Transition From Summer to Fall
1/ Sherwin Williams Champagne SW-6644
This colour encapsulates a lot. At first glance we’d probably all agree that it’s yellow but Sherwin Williams refers to it as a bubbly pink with peach undertones. That’s a lot of colour and dimension packed into one can of paint. If you’re looking for a light, bright colour that feels fresh this could be a great choice.
2/ Sherwin Williams Subdued Sienna SW-9009
Orange isn’t an easy colour to choose because so many of them are really, really bright. Orange can be a great colour to use for an accent but paint is hard. My recommendation is to use something like Subdued Sienna that has more of a clay feel to it. It’s very muted and has a rustic charm that reminds me of the southwestern look of the 90’s.
3/ Benjamin Moore Plum Raisin 2082-20
I love this colour because it has depth and personality but it’s not so deep that it feels oppressive. I think this is too dark to consider it for your entire home but if you have a room that can benefit from the warm and cozy vibes of this deep plum it could be perfect. I’d use this colour in a bedroom, a dining room or a powder room.
4/ Benjamin Moore Boothbay Gray HC-165
If you’re looking for a colour that will create a serene and relaxing feel in your space, consider Boothbay Gray. Since there’s a lot of gray in this colour I would consider it more of a neutral versus a true blue. If you want a neutral that has a strong personality this could be right for you.
5/ Sherwin Williams Evergreen Fog SW-9130
One of the things many of us learned via Benjamin Moore’s historical collection is that a lot of the easiest colours to live with are the ones that have gray added to them. This is a perfect example of that. This green is definitely not bright or leaf like but instead, it’s a muted version of bright green that is very liveable. If you’re looking for a brighter green, read all about Vintage Vogue.
6/ Benjamin Moore Saddle Brown 2164-10
This is a brown that will be easy to live with all year round. It’s a chocolate brown but what keeps it from feeling dark is the yellow that’s added. This gives it a brightness and makes it less oppressive than some of the other deeper chocolate paint colours. This would be a great accent to an already neutral home.
7/ Sherwin Williams Sea Salt SW-6204
If you’re looking for a colour that feels like a spa, look no further than Sea Salt. This is a green with strong blue undertones that make it feel like a day at the spa or a day at the beach. This is a very easy colour to incorporate into your own space in just about any room in your home.
8/ Sherwin Williams Shitake SW-9173
You may have been on the hunt for a great neutral and have realized it’s harder than it seems. The undertones of neutrals like beige are very strong and if you don’t understand how to interpret undertones it can feel overwhelming. This one has a red undertone but it also contains quite a bit of gray so it doesn’t feel too pink. Want more options for the perfect greige paint colours? Read this post.
9/ Benjamin Moore Providence Blue 1636
If you’re looking for a sophisticated blue that will add a ton of personality to your space, give Providence Blue a try. This cool blue does require a space with lots of warmth so try it in spaces with lots of lighting or other warm elements. If you love the tones but not this colour, learn more about Gentleman’s Gray in this post. This is one of my all-time favourite colours.
